John and Sue welcome you to their delightful 18th century cottage in the picturesque village of EGLETON on the shores of RUTLAND WATER. Egleton is famous for its BIRD SANCTUARY and is host to the internationally renowned ANNUAL BRITISH BIRDWATCHING FAIR each summer. Forge Cottage is situated at the entrance to the BIRD WATCHING CENTRE as well as sitting alongside the cycle path that runs round the Lake. RUTLAND WATER is wonderful for fishing (trout), sailing & windsurfing, walking & cycling (hire shops & clubs connected to these activities are to be found on both the north & south shores of the Lake).

RUTLAND is the smallest county in England. The county town of OAKHAM boasts many stylish and independent shops and boutiques. The bustling market held every Wednesday and Saturday is still very prominent and placed next to Oakham Castle where once a month you can still find the farmers' market in its grounds. Just a couple of miles down the lane from Egleton, Oakham's fine selection of restaurants will cater for everyone's needs or for those searching deeper into the county we are served by many traditional English village pubs. A 6 mile drive to our other market town of UPPINGHAM is also rich in small, smart shops, pubs and restaurants.

Close to Egleton is GEOFF HAMILTON'S BARNSDALE GARDENS, BURGHLEY HOUSE (BURGHLEY HORSE TRIALS), ROCKINGHAM CASTLE & TOLETHORPE HALL (famous for its' Open Air Theatre) and for that special treat afternoon tea at HAMBLETON HALL (1 mile) or THE GEORGE HOTEL, Stamford (10 miles) is a must!

The GARDEN SUITE, on the site of the original Forge, has recently been rebuilt as a wing to the cottage. The Suite consists of a comfortable bedroom with twin beds/large double bed with double aspect views across gardens and a brook. The living room has double aspect views with French doors leading to the garden with private patio table, chairs and parasol (for sunny days). The bathroom includes a bath with shower. There is also a small fridge in the suite for that special bottle of wine! This accommodation is self-contained, although still part of the cottage, having its own private entrance allowing 24hr access.

The BIRD ROOM is a stylish, large double bedded room with glorious views overlooking the garden, bird sanctuary and farmland. It has an en suite bathroom with separate shower cubicle.

The COTTAGE ROOM is a charming double bedded room with dual aspect views overlooking farmland and stone houses. It has a private bathroom with bath and shower.

Breakfast is taken in the DINING ROOM
